Oliver Winery Riesling Awarded Best New World White Wine BLOOMINGTON —Oliver Winery was awarded the “2005 Best New World White Wine” for their 2004 Riesling at the Jerry D. Mead's New World International Wine Competition. The competition was held in Ontario California February 20th and 21st and featured over 2200 wines from North America, Central America, South America, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, excluding Europe, hence “New World.” This international wine competition is the only one of its kind in America which match the best wines from various price ranges in order to determine an overall best of variety or type. All wines are judged “double-blind” by professionals who do not know the identity of the wine, nor are they given a list of wines that will be competing. Jerry D. Mead's New World International Wine Competition was created to assist the consumer in selecting the best quality wines for the best value. The award winning Riesling is among 15 different wines that are available for daily complimentary tasting at Oliver Winery, and available in some retail outlets.
